WE REMEMBER
When someone close to us dies, they don't cease to be part of our lives. They may not be here in the way we were used to, but their belongings are here, there are places associated with them, and events that remind us that they were here with us. Many things, such as home, clothing, music, food, sounds, scents, and even our thoughts, contain and remind us of the deceased.
In our memories, they are simply always present. The period during which we slowly and painfully get used to the fact that the person is no longer with us, and when we realize that we are left with "only" memories, is called the period of mourning.
